I also told my husband I will just head to Thailand in the winter if he wants to stay in a cold place! ;) I'm heading back to Chiang Mai next month for a 6-month Thai course and I'm so excited. I loved it there last year. I did find Phuket to be a more stressful part these days, but the west and northwest coasts of Koh Samui were fantastic. :) Wishing you two all the best on your travels!! :)

I love the list I definitely need drinkable tap water and a must is flushing toilet paper I've heard nice things about Thailand, Vienna, Croatia, Malta and Portugal are popular for me Portugal, Croatia, Sicily, I also really love Italy and Greece in general there are many lesser known cities and islands in both countries beautiful might not be so relaxed though because both are highly traveled tourists destinations but beautiful countries with welcoming people anywhere there's a beach with the ocean I'm happy and can definitely live and stay there 😊

FYI... Belle Isle is NOT FREE. There is a small fee to get on to the island that must be paid at the entrance, but with that fee you have access to everything on the island. I personally pay annually for tge Metro Park Pass (about $15) when I renew my license plate tags, and that gives me a year of unlimited access to ALL Metro Parks in the State of MI... and there are hundreds of parks in MI.

20k for a five year visa, v That doesn’t make Thailand cheap at all, If I live another 25 years, That’s 100k for a visa, That’s nuts. You can buy an apartment with that in Spain

Fun fact. I recently visited friends in Marlboro and they said that the main building in the square is where hitler delivered a speech during ww2. Also, the tower on the building is slightly off center due to a dispute between engineers who argued where the center of the building was so one of the engineers spitefully built it off center on purpose to agrivate the other engineer.

Santa Cruz hat zwar Tortuga Bay und da einen sauberen Nationalpark, aber ansonsten ist es dort wirklich schmutzig. Also Puerto Ayora. Unser Hotel war eher abgelegen und wir sind zu Fuß da hingelaufen und wirklich an Unmengen Müll vorbei, sogar Müllsäcke von zu Hause werden wohl einfach neben die Straße etc hingeworfen. Das war übel. Dazu steht die Luft am Hafen und es stinkt nach Abgasen. Beides echt ein großes Problem und ich hoffe, man kriegt es in den Griff, denn wenn man denkt, es reicht, den Nationalpark sauber zu halten, irrt sich. Die Abfälle gelangen ins Meer oder werden mit dem Wind dann auch in den Rest der Inseln getragen. Und das, obwohl es so viele Graffities dort gibt, die Plastikmüll anprangern.

Thailand immigration is awful. But, when I hired a company, it was very easy. The problem is finding a good company in every single area of Thailand you choose to live. Hard to just enjoy your travels when you have the immigration problem constantly lingering over your head. Visa runs are horrible and inconvenient. The only people who don't struggle with this are people who are married to a Thai person. If you are married to a Thai it is only a few hundred yearly to a visa agency. But if you are not married to a Thai then get ready to leave every 30 days and/or get an Education visa where you will still have the dreaded immigration trips alone.
